William Eggleston

William Eggleston was born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Sumner, Mississippi. Eggleston's early photographs were inspired by the photographer Robert Frank, and by the French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson's book, 'The Decisive Moment'. He first photographed in black and white but in 1965, started experimenting with colour. In the early Sixties, his dominant medium became colour transparency film.

This photograph shows that a child has been there and played on the bike. It gives a sense of mystery as to why the child left the bike there in an open space. I like the low angle that the photo was taken,  it makes the bike look larger and changes perspective.

This shows rubbish that has ben left on the floor which implies that people have been there. The fact that the rest of the photograph is quite empty, makes the viewer focus on the litter. It makes you think about why the photo was taken. It is similar to photographs taken by Mark Ruwedel.

This photograph is of a jacket hanging up, this relates to an idea that i had for this project. It shows not just that someone has been there, but they are still there, otherwise they would have taken their jacket.

This is Close to a photo that i wanted to take. Instead of photographing plates at the table before the meal has been eaten, i wanted to photograph the plates at the table after the meal has been eaten because this way there is no sign of the people as they have already left. It is the same perspective that i want from the photo i am going to take.

The next thing i am going to do is research Mark Ruwedel as he photographs similar subjects.
